Tusculum awarded $263,996 BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation grant

Tusculum College announced the installation of a simulation laboratory for the recently added Bachelor of Science in Nursing program as the result of a recent awarding of a $263,996 grant from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation.

The simulation lab will be used to produce highly-qualified BSN graduates skilled at clinical decision-making, who will provide safe, competent and improved health care for future generations of Tennesseans, said Dr. Nancy B. Moody, president of Tusculum College.

Tusculum College nursing program receives initial approval from Tennessee Board of Nursing

Tusculum College has earned initial approval from the Tennessee Board of Nursing for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the RN to BSN programs set to begin this coming fall, pending approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

President Nancy B. Moody, Dr. Lois Ewen, dean of nursing, Dr. Melinda Dukes, vice president for Academic Affairs and Steve Gehret, vice president and chief financial officer for the college, appeared before the Tennessee Board of Nursing on Wednesday and presented the college’s request for initial approval.

Tusculum College names first Dean of Nursing

Dr. Lois L. Ewen has been named the dean of nursing at Tusculum College, and will be the first to hold this newly designated position as the college rolls out its Bachelor of Science in nursing program beginning fall 2012.

“This is a major step forward for Tusculum College and the nursing program, and we are thrilled that we are able to engage Dr. Ewen as our Dean of Nursing at Tusculum College, as she brings all the skills, talent and heart that will be necessary to build a program that will impact so many lives for many years to come,” said Dr. Nancy B. Moody, president of Tusculum College.
