About the Band Program

BAND CAMP-AUG. 9-16

The Pioneer Band Program is led by David A. Price. The revival of the band program at Tusculum College began in 2009 with creation of the Pioneer Pep Band. The Pep Band became a much-enjoyed feature of the 2010 Pioneer football season, as the band performed at the Pioneer Club tailgates before each home football game and during half-time festivities.

A concert band was formed to perform during the Inauguration ceremony for Dr. Nancy B. Moody on October 8, 2010.

We have just finished a very exciting second year. Initially, we established a pep band and from that beginning, we started a concert band, a jazz band, a handbell choir, a brass quintet, a drumline and other small ensembles. During the fall of 2011 we started a marching band complete with flag corps. There is also a community band that meets in our band room that students are encouraged to join as well. Our marching band performs at all home football games and parades. Our pep band performs at home basketball games and our other groups have approximately three concerts spread out during the school year. Currently, we have band scholarships and band work-study scholarships available for Tusculum students. Band work-study scholarships are need-based. Students also can receive one credit hour per semester of band.
