Cynthia Solomon Ph. D is a Professor of Education, and the coordinator of two MAED degree concentrations: Human Resource Development (HRD) and Organizational Training and Education (OT&E). Dr. Solomon joined the Tusculum College faculty in 2002 after a 24 year career in organizational development and management systems. Her career experiences span health care, engineering, and government management systems development, in addition to College teaching.

Cindy earned her BS at the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio; an MA in Education from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio; an MA in Education from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and her Ph.D in Higher Education: Curriculum and Instruction from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

Her professional career includes organizational management and development projects such as training and education design and development, quality assurance auditing, process analysis and improvement, work performance document development and management, and leadership and team development. She practices through her own consultant practice for churches and has provided leadership development workshops; has developed compliance programs for long term care facilities, and has provided accredited professional development workshops for professionals in long term care employment. She currently consults through three affiliates in the East Tennessee area, providing clients with training or organizational development services on a variety of topics.

Dr. Solomon has authored several publications for the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), including topics such as an original leadership model, organizational culture auditing and change, and organizational performance management.

Originally from Pennsylvania and Ohio, Cindy is an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan! She is known to tell students to call her anytime except when there is a televised Steeler game on TV. She is an OK quilter, but an avid gardener during the summer, and has been known to share the produce from her large garden with students who take home fresh tomatoes or ears of Silver Queen corn from her garden. She and husband Kareld enjoy living on Lake Loudoun and taking their boat out for quiet relaxation and breakfast on the lake.

The pride of her life is her family — their three children and five grandchildren. Occasionally, photos of the grandchildren will show up in a PowerPoint presentation!

Cindy enjoys and appreciates students and graduates who keep in touch with her and share life’s joys and accomplishments.
