‘Up, Up and Away’ fundraiser set to take flight

Fantastic auction items and fun surprises are pouring in for the upcoming “Up, Up and Away” event sponsored by the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association.

The event on Saturday, Aug. 6, will feature a catered dinner from Signature Caterers, great live music from JB and the Honeybeans and the Smooth Sounds of Route 66, tethered hot air balloon rides and a live auction.

“This year we will be auctioning off items as diverse as Dollywood passes, antiques and collectables and hand woven baskets,” said Joyce Doughty, president of the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association.

“Up, Up and Away” will be from 6 – 9 p.m. at the home of Richard Scull in Afton (1595 Ripley Island Road).

Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at Popcorn Video, Three Blind Mice, Main Street: Greeneville, the President Andrew Johnson Museum and Library at Tusculum College and Art Space 4.

All proceeds benefit the National History Day Program in Northeast Tennessee, which is supported by the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association. Last year, more than 700 area students participated in National History Day, making the Northeast Tennessee District one of the most active and successful in the state.
