Tusculum College has named Dr. Michael E. Dillon, Jr., as the first Dean of the School of Business.
“Dr. Dillon brings a wealth of experience in the private sector and higher education to Tusculum College, and we look forward to working with him to continue to advance the School of Business,” said Dr. Melinda Dukes, vice president for academic affairs at Tusculum. “Dr. Dillon’s leadership is a great addition to the outstanding faculty and engaged students that are a hallmark of the Tusculum business program.”
He comes to Tusculum from Lincoln Memorial University, where he has served as assistant dean, director of the MBA programs, department chair and associate professor of business. Dr. Dillon also taught finance classes at the University of Cincinnati for six years.
In teaching finance and economic courses, Dr. Dillon seeks to engage and challenge students to develop their skills in critical thinking and decision making. His finance research interests include IPOs (Initial Public Offerings), agency issues and corporate governance, healthcare and behavioral finance.
Prior to his career in academics, Dr. Dillon’s private sector experience involved sales, sales management and purchasing management. He also owned a consulting firm that assisted physicians with their financial issues.
A native of Ohio, Dr. Dillon came to East Tennessee in 2003. His wife, Mary, is medical director at the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center. The couple has two daughters, Rachel and Sarah.
Dr. Dillon earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Kenyon College, his MBA from Xavier University and a doctorate in finance from the University of Cincinnati.
