Faculty and staff paused from their preparations for the upcoming academic year to enjoy the event. Despite very hot weather, about 140 people attended the picnic, sponsored by Provost Dr. Kim Estep and her husband, Paul Adams. Staff and faculty members and their families enjoyed chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and a vegetarian past entrée catered by Diedra Haruff. The picnic was held under a large tent, and the nearby Doak House Museum remained open for guided tours after the picnic.
