Tusculum College Community Chorus to present Christmas concert Monday, Dec. 14

The Tusculum College Community Chorus will present a Christmas concert on Monday, December 14.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Building on the Tusculum College campus.  The event is free and open to the public.

The first half of the program will feature compositions for the season from great composers ranging from Bach to Schubert to Gustav Holst.

The Schubert work is a setting of Mary’s song recorded in Luke, the “Magnificat,” and features a solo quartet along with the full chorus.  The solo quartet is Jill Jones, Jody Palm, Michael Forte and Kevin Flannagan.  Two additional soloists, Kritin Girton and Martha Wiley, participate in Gustav Holst’s composition, “Christmas Day.”

In the second half of the program, the chorus will sing a variety of familiar carols and shorter compositions, including “White Christmas,” “Go Tell it on the Mountain,” “Do You Hear What I Hear?” and “Mary Had A Baby,” with soloist Heather Burr.  To round out the program are the chorus’ traditional closing selections, “Still, Still, Still” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

David Hendricksen is the conductor for the group, and James Winfree is the accompanist.

Please contact Hendricksen at 423-638-0409 or email at conductordavid@embarqmail.com or call Tusculum College Arts Outreach at 423-798-1620 for additional information.
