The Doak House Museum will featured some 19th century “unplugged fun” for children during its Stay and Play Thursday events during the month of July.
Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to take a break from electronic devices and enjoy activities that were fun for their counterparts in the 1800s a few hours of the day each Thursday of the month in July at the museum on the Tusculum College campus. Activities are planned for 9 a.m. to noon on each of the Thursdays.
Each Thursday will have a different theme connected to life in the 19th century. Activities will begin on July 6 with art projects. Toys and games will be the focus on July 13. On July 20, participants will enjoy food-themed projects. Concluding July’s program will be a day of nature activities on the 27th.
The cost for the program is $10 per child for each day of activities. The fee covers all materials used in activities and a mid-morning snack.
Space is limited. Please contact Dollie Boyd, director of museums at Tusculum, for more information or to make a reservation at 423-636-8554 or dboyd@tusculum.edu.
