Eighty-one Tusculum College student-athletes have been named to the 2011-2012 South Atlantic Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll . The conference had 757 student-athletes honored for their achievements in the classroom.
The SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes those student-athletes who carry at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and have completed at least one season in the sports of football, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s golf.
Tusculum’s 81 honorees are the third-most of the 10 league members. Lenoir-Rhyne led the way with 95 honorees, followed by Mars Hill (84), Tusculum, Newberry (75), Catawba (74), Carson-Newman (70), Lincoln Memorial (70), Wingate (70), Brevard (69) and Anderson (69).
The SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll showcases the SAC member institutions’ commitment to achieving high levels of success both academically and athletically, as multiple sport-related award winners also garnered the distinction.
Tusculum honorees include 2011-2012 Capital One Academic All-Americans® Cody Coffman (baseball), Jillian Corum (women’s golf), Jenny Grant (cross country), Taylor Rakes (baseball), Ashley Sarmiento (volleyball) and Luis Zamora (men’s tennis).
SAC and Southeast Region Baseball Pitcher of the Year Craig Goodman is listed among the honorees, while two-time Volleyball All-American Caitlyn Dean is also mentioned. The Tusculum list also includes SAC Freshmen of the Year Emee Herbert (women’s golf) and Lukas Winkelmann (men’s tennis).
