Online Adjunct Faculty Comments Off

Tusculum College is seeking applications for its online courses. Prior experience with adult students is preferred as well as experience teaching web-enhanced courses using an on-line course delivery system. These positions will function as the principal source of instruction, develop and manage the class syllabus, and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards. Prepare and develop course content based on department standard and student needs, which may include lectures, in-class discussions and assignments, comprehensive assessment and grading (assigned papers, quizzes and exams) in the assigned course offered for academic credit. Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments and examinations, and record attendance for each class meeting. Availability for student communications apart from scheduled class meetings, and to make these hours known to students is required.

REQUIRED AND DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

Doctorate or Master’s degree is required in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline). Candidates must be a clear communicator with the ability to teach with ample real-world experience and be able to show confidence teaching and presenting to a class. Successful candidates must be technologically savvy: able to use email, different online learning systems and other ways to communicate with students, and be passionate about specific academic fields and education in general.

DESCRIPTION:

Tusculum College School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. This is a full-time position that will be teaching at the College’s main campus in Greeneville, TN and possibly the other off-site locations in Knoxville, Morristown, and Kingsport. This position will be responsible for developing and teaching classroom and online courses for the traditional aged and adult students. Some of the classes will be taught in the evening for the Professional Studies Adult Education program. Tusculum College is seeking a dynamic full-time professional to join our team as a Student Life Coordinator.  This position will report to the Associate Dean of Students and provide vision, strategic direction and supervision for the Department’s Life and Orientation programs. We seek an individual who can translate a keen understanding of current student development philosophy into effective programs, interventions and mentoring of students.  At Tusculum, we are re-imagining our student life programs and the person assuming this position will play an integral and creative role in this effort. A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s is preferred. The successful candidate will be creative, thoughtful, and able to manage multiple priorities, projects, and initiatives, through a twelve-month live-in position in a tightly integrated team environment. The successful candidate will be able to reside in on-campus housing to support environmental management and emergency on-call roles.  Applicants must have a working knowledge of the theory and practice of student affairs management in a liberal arts college and of modern principles and practices of counseling and assessment with the ability to develop and implement short and long-range plans to meet department needs and goals.  Applicants must also have a strong ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and to the general public.

Admission Representative Comments Off

 DESCRIPTION:

Tusculum College’s Office of Admission is seeking applications for a full-time Admission Representative. The primary responsibility is to educate prospective students and families about Tusculum College and its programs. Candidates are required to develop a rapport with a variety of other constituents including counselors, faculty, TC staff, alumni, and current students. Fairly extensive travel in the fall & early spring (12-18 weeks) will be to high schools and college recruitment programs in selected Eastern and Southern states.

Additional primary duties include significant telecounseling, reviewing applications, interviewing future Tusculum Pioneers, assisting with all recruitment events.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Prior recruitment experience with a four-year college or university, preferred. Effective oral and written communication skills, an outgoing personality, the ability to work independently, and as part of a team, a flexible attitude, and a willingness to work frequent evenings and weekends is desired. This is a comprehensive position and requires a strong work ethic to be successful.  Extensive knowledge of computers and a good driving record are also required.  A Bachelors degree is required.

Facilities Management IV Comments Off

DESCRIPTION:

Tusculum College is accepting applications for a Facilities Management IV.  This position reports to the Director of Facilities Management.  The successful applicant must be capable of performing semi-skilled and skilled HVAC work.  Preference will be given to the candidate possessing knowledge and experience in several other specialty areas, including electrical, plumbing, master carpentry, masonry, or other maintenance and construction skilled work on athletic facilities, College buildings and fixtures, including administrative buildings, staff and residential housing, and other institutional buildings for efficient operations.  Duties include inspecting, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing issues, repairing, overhauling, new installations, and refitting with specialty areas and assist in all other areas.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Five years experience in a maintenance position, EPA universal certification a plus.  Candidate must possess strong organizational and analytical skills along with the ability to multi-task, and possess the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Tusculum College, a member of NCAA DII and South Atlantic Conference, is currently seeking applications for a Head Men’s and Women’s Track/Assistant Cross Country Coach.  This position is a full-time, twelve-month appointment with a comprehensive benefits package.  Candidates are responsible for the administration and management of all aspects of highly successful and competitive varsity men and women’s indoor/outdoor track and field program and assists with all facets of the cross-country program.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruit and retain qualified student-athletes, practice and game preparation, athlete development, coaching/teaching, budget management, travel coordination, fundraising for sport and department, and other areas of administration.  Maintaining a working relationship with campus colleagues, alumni, community members, and other constituents is crucial.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years collegiate coaching experience preferably at an NCAA institution, and the ability to monitor crowd control.  The ideal candidate will have previous college running and coaching experience with an understanding of the DII philosophy and its role at a private liberal arts institution.  Candidate must also possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, communicate both effectively (verbal and written), have the ability to multi-task and operate within an extremely motivated, team-oriented atmosphere.  Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
