Tusculum College is seeking applications for its online courses. Prior experience with adult students is preferred as well as experience teaching web-enhanced courses using an on-line course delivery system. These positions will function as the principal source of instruction, develop and manage the class syllabus, and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards. Prepare and develop course content based on department standard and student needs, which may include lectures, in-class discussions and assignments, comprehensive assessment and grading (assigned papers, quizzes and exams) in the assigned course offered for academic credit. Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments and examinations, and record attendance for each class meeting. Availability for student communications apart from scheduled class meetings, and to make these hours known to students is required.
REQUIRED AND DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Doctorate or Master’s degree is required in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline). Candidates must be a clear communicator with the ability to teach with ample real-world experience and be able to show confidence teaching and presenting to a class. Successful candidates must be technologically savvy: able to use email, different online learning systems and other ways to communicate with students, and be passionate about specific academic fields and education in general.
