Tusculum College’s Knoxville Regional Center is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Academic Advisor for the southeast region. Responsibilities of this position include providing individual academic advising to students on academic matters such as the development of an academic plan, course selection, and academic performance review and guiding students in development of decision-making skills. Ensuring students understand degree requirements as well as academic policies and procedures. The successful candidate must provide outstanding service to a diverse non-traditional student population in a fast-paced team environment. Due to the evening and weekend class schedules, some evening and/or weekend work may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree required. Qualified candidates must have experience in enrollment counseling and/or advising adult students in degree completion programs in a higher education setting. Candidates should be highly motivated, enthusiastic, organized, and have excellent time management skills.
This position requires effective oral, listening, and written communication skills, an outgoing personality, customer service skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, a flexible attitude, and a willingness to work frequent evenings and weekends as needed. This position covers a wide range of responsibilities and requires a strong work ethic to be successful.
