The Civic Studies Department at Tusculum College invites applicants for a teaching position in Criminal Justice. Candidates should be passionate educators who can facilitate the needs of diverse learners. Candidates should demonstrate a mastery of their specific discipline; a deep commitment to the College mission of providing a liberal arts education with pathways for career preparation, personal development, and civic engagement; technological competencies; teaching/advising skills and strategies that facilitate 21st century literacies; effective usages of resources that prepare students for productive lives; and using various educational technological mediums (experience with online teaching and the development of online courses preferred). Additional responsibilities likely to include advising students, committee work, and departmental duties. Tusculum College places special importance on helping under-prepared students achieve academic success. All schedules require office hours and some may require evening and/or weekend hours. Salary is negotiable and dependent upon education and experience.
The anticipated start date will be Fall 2017.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in Criminal Justice and previous job and/or teaching experience in the field. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with other members of the Civic Studies Department to ensure student success. Preferably, candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, have demonstrated advising of undergraduate research, and have experience in the development of online courses.
