SUBJECT: 2013-2014 Holiday Schedule for Tusculum College Staff

The President will determine the Holiday Schedule and time off allowed for each academic year.

Our offices will observe the following holiday schedule for 2013-2014.

This year there will be 2 floating holidays and a paid holiday on July 5, 2013. The 2 floating holidays will be taken anytime within the 2013-2014 fiscal year with mutual agreement with supervisor.

2 Floating Holidays:

Upon mutual agreement between employee and supervisor within the 2013-2014 fiscal year

Independence Day, 2013:

Closed Thursday – Friday, July 4-5, 2013

Thanksgiving, 2013:

Closed Wednesday – Friday, November 27-29, 2013

*Christmas, 2013 and New Year’s 2014:

Closed Monday, December 23, 2013 through Friday, January 3, 2014

As in the past, Tusculum College will convert to a reduced administrative schedule over the Christmas break from December 23, 2013 – January 3, 2014. The scheduling of each division will be determined by the Cabinet member.

At any time, the President or Cabinet members may determine for the welfare of the College, certain departments may need to work during a Holiday. Campus Safety will maintain a normal schedule during Holidays.

*Christmas Break

In order to provide services to our current/prospective students and visitors during the College’s long Christmas break from December 23, 2012 – January 3, 2013, essential administrative offices will maintain limited operations.

Tusculum College will convert to a reduced administrative schedule over the Christmas break. Essential campus offices relating to the arrival of students or visitors will maintain minimal staffing for five hours to eight hours per day. The following offices are identified as essential administrative operations for this policy: Admissions, Business Office, Financial Aid, Institutional Advancement, Student Affairs, and Athletics.

The following offices are identified as crucial offices to new student arrivals or sustaining campus facilities and are to be available for call in as needed through this period: Registrar and Facilities Management.

Campus Safety will remain on a normal working schedule and a Holiday will be granted for each full day worked while the College is closed.

All other offices will operate as designated by the Cabinet member.

Payment:

There will be a special payment arrangement for Christmas break for non-exempt employees in essential and crucial offices only. For each five – eight hour day worked during this period, the staff member will be paid for an 8 hour day and allowed to move the holiday hours to a more convenient time. The moving of any holiday time will be determined jointly between the employee and his/her supervisor.

Eligibility:

Full-time staff employees are eligible for Holiday Pay (or floating holiday). Employees on a leave of absence, part-time, contracted or temporary, are not eligible to receive Holiday Pay.

Since Graduate and Professional Studies often operates on a different schedule than the Residential College, steps will be taken to assure that offices remain open to best serve the needs of students. Staff schedules will be adjusted accordingly. Compensated time will be determined jointly by the employee and his/her supervisor following the same guidelines as Christmas break.
