JeffPerry_directoryDr. Jeffrey Perry joined Tusculum College as an assistant professor of history in 2017.  He specializes in Early American history with a particular focus on the legal and religious history of the post-Revolutionary period.

Born and raised in Sarasota, Florida, he received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in history from the University of South Florida in Tampa, earning his Ph.D. in history from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Dr. Perry’s current book project investigates the role of churches in dispute resolution practices in post-Revolutionary trans-Appalachia.  His research has received funding from, among other institutions, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Filson Historical Society in Louisville, the Kentucky Historical Society and the Tennessee Historical Society. An article from his book project was awarded the Sidney E. Mead Prize by the American Society of Church History, and was published in that society’s journal, Church History.
