Dr. Thomas is a generalist who teaches composition, humanities, and literature. She presents papers at conferences regularly and has recently had a chapter accepted for publication in Exploring the Territory: The Life of the Writer/Teacher.

Dr. Thomas moved here from Evansville, Indiana, a small city in the southern tip of the state on the Ohio River across from Kentucky. She was an active member of the community in Evansville as a member of the Board of the Preservation Alliance and a tutor trainer for the Literacy Center, and enjoys  participating in the communities of Tusculum and Greeneville.

Her current research projects include writing on student/teacher motivation, developing a course in imaginative fiction (Sparrow would be a text for this course), and finding new ways to encourage students to enjoy reading.

Dr. Thomas’ eclectic range of interests includes the arts, reading, traveling, hiking yoga, gardening, and an attempt to cook Italian food. As any of her students can tell you, she is also a serious movie buff!

One of her favorite quotes: “Follow your bliss” – Joseph Campbell
