Tusculum, Pellissippi State sign articulation agreement

Representatives of Tusculum College and Pellissippi State Community College signed an articulation agreement on Friday, June 17, facilitating the transfer of students from one institution to the other as they pursue their educational goals.

Dr. Nancy B. Moody, president of Tusculum College Dr. Allen G. Edwards, president of Pellissippi State, signed the articulation agreement at the Tusculum College Knoxville Regional Center on Friday morning. The agreement becomes effective immediately for Pellissippi State graduates enrolling at Tusculum College.

“We are very pleased to announce this new partnership and articulation agreement between our two institutions. This agreement simplifies the process of Pellissippi State Community College graduates transferring into Tusculum College’s program to complete their bachelor degrees,” said Moody. “This articulation agreement provides for students to continue their education without concern about matriculation.”

“We’re very pleased to have this agreement in place that will make the process of enrollment at Tusculum College for Pellissippi State graduates as seamless and simple as possible,” said Dr. Kim Estep, provost and academic vice president at Tusculum College.

The two colleges have been working out the details of the articulation agreement for several months and have come up with a program that allows for Pellissippi students who have either an Associate of Science in teaching, Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees from Pellissippi State to enter Tusculum College bachelor programs with the classification of juniors and receive transfer credit for all courses taken that correspond to or are considered equivalent to those offered at Tusculum.

Students who have earned a degree at Pellissippi will be deemed to have met Tusculum’s lower level division general education core.
