Graduate and Professional Studies celebrates 25th anniversary in Morristown

morristown3Around 50 alumni, former faculty, faculty and staff members gathered in Morristown on June 26 to celebrate Graduate and Professional Studies’ 25th anniversary.

The celebration, held at The County Club in Morristown, included brief remarks from College representatives about the Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) program and its importance to the College and the working adult students it serves.  A PowerPoint presentation was also on continuous loop in the room, highlighting the GPS program, class sites and history of the program.

However, most of the event was a time of fellowship for the attendees, a majority of which stayed during the two-hour event. Musical entertainment for the event was provided by Ben Sneyd, a rising sophomore in the Residential College program who is working this summer in the Office of Admission.

morristown2The GPS’ 25th anniversary milestone has been marked by anniversary celebration activities and events in Knoxville and the Tri-Cities as well as Morristown. The celebration will culminate with a celebration in Greeneville with a tailgate party and football game event on October 17.

The celebrations are for all GPS graduates, including those who participated in the TALL and TAG programs, as well as for faculty, staff, current students and all who have helped the program develop into one of the top adult education programs in the state over the past 25 years.

Since 1984, more than 10,000 working adults have realized their dreams by earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree at Tusculum College. The program is specifically designed with working adults in mind, allowing them to continue to work while achieving their dream of higher education.
