Special program to commemorate Veteran’s Day on Friday

Tusculum College will honor those who have served in the U.S. military during a special program Friday to commemorate Veteran’s Day.

The public, as well as Tusuclum students, faculty and staff are invited to the Veteran’s Day Service, which will be held at 11:45 a.m. in front of the main entrance of the Niswonger Commons on campus. In case of inclement weather, the service will be in the Chalmers Conference Center inside the Niswonger Commons.

The service will include readings of scripture, the poem, “They Did Their Share” by Joann Fuchs; Abraham Lincoln’s “Letter to Mrs. Bixby,” a widow who lost sons on the field of battle during the Civil War, and a history of Veteran’s Day. The Pioneer Band will perform a musical salute to the military services.

A special display of American flags will be placed in the front of the Niswonger Commons. The service is being coordinated by Mark Stokes, director of religious life, church and community relations.
