Scholarship Opportunity 1
The Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) is offering a scholarship opportunity to minority students who are preparing to enter or are currently enrolled in a college or university. The Minority Teaching Fellows Program offers a $5,000 per year scholarship designed for students desiring to enter the teaching field following graduation. The program requires students to teach in a Tennessee Pre K-12 public school for the number of years they received the award. In order to be eligible for the program, students must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a minority student
2. Be a Tennessee resident and a US citizen
3. Be a Tennessee high school senior achieving a 2.75 GPA
4. Obtain a minimum composite score of 18 on the ACT or 860 on the SAT
-OR-
5. Be a continuing college student without a prior degree achieving at least a 2.5 GPA
6. Be enrolled and accepted for enrollment full-time at an eligible Tennessee institution

Along with the application, students will be required to submit to TSAC the following items to be considered for the scholarship:
1. 250 word essay on “Why I Chose Teaching as a Profession”
2. Letter of Recommendation from an Educator
3. Letter of Recommendation from a Community Member
4. Official High School or College Transcript
5. Documentation to Verify Standardized Test Scores
6. List of Extracurricular Activities
Scholarship Opportunity 2
TSAC is offering a scholarship opportunity for students who will be or are enrolled in a teacher education program at an eligible Tennessee college or university. The Tennessee Teaching Scholars Program offers a $5,000 per year scholarship designed for students desiring to enter the teaching field following graduation. The program requires students to teach in a Tennessee Pre-K-12 public school for the number of years they receive the award. In order to be eligible for the program, students must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a Tennessee resident and a US citizen
2. Earned at least a 2.75 GPA
3. Be enrolled full-time (undergraduate) or half-time (graduate)
4. Be enrolled in an eligible Tennessee institution
5. Be formally admitted to a state-approved teacher education program
6. Not be a licensed teacher
7. Not be employed or previously employed in a teaching position
