Longevity awards presented to faculty and staff

Tusculum College presented Longevity Awards to faculty and staff members during the annual Faculty and Staff Conference in preparation for the coming 2014-15 academic year.

Carolyn Parker

Carolyn Parker, coordinator of technical services at the Thomas J. Garland Library, was honored for 30 years of service to Tusculum College. In 1982, she was the first person to become part of the Tusculum College Library Volunteers group and was hired to work at the library a few years later. Her responsibilities include making new materials added to the Garland library collection shelf ready for circulation. Occasionally she also helps at the front desk providing reference assistance. An avid reader and history buff, she can also be found at Pioneer Park during the summer cheering on the Greeneville Astros.

Chaplain Mark Stokes was recognized for his 25 years of service. Stokes, who was commissioned as chaplain earlier this year, has worked in almost all of the major administrative areas at the College. Stokes has headed admission, student affairs and institutional advancement and has served as the vice president of administration, overseeing such diverse areas as the museums, information systems and building projects. He has also served Tusculum as its primary liaison with the Presbyterian Church USA and has also served in

leadership roles in the church and in community service organizations. In addition to his longevity pin and certificate, he was presented a beautifully decorated stole to wear with his clerical robes. The stole was presented by the Office of Institutional Advancement and sewn by Barbara Holt, costumer coordinator for Arts Outreach and her sister.

Honored for 20 years of service were Deborah Davis, associate athletic director and compliance officer; Jennifer Hollowell, coordinator of Arts Outreach,  and Jill Jones, director of academic advising.

Those recognized for 15 years of service were Sandy Bible, Talent Search educational adviser; Dom Donnelly, assistant athletic director for media relations; Robin Fife, assistant professor of social science; Karen Hartman, assistant director for Upward Bound; Betsy Long, academic support coordinator; Ian VanLare, professor of biology, and Mike Verna, computer systems analyst.

Celebrating 10 years of service with Tusculum are Karen Cox, administrative assistant in Student Support Services; Travis Crabtree, system analyst/webmaster; Bobbie Greenway, academic resources counselor; Todd Hertel, facilities management II; Dr. Lisa Johnson, assistant vice president of academic affairs and assistant professor of education; Dr. Debra McGinn, associate professor of biology; Billie Ann Pace, academic resources counselor, and Dr. Nancy Thomas, associate professor of English.

Those recognized for five years of service were Mandy Altum, Shannon Brewer, Kathy Cuff, Dr. Brian Davis, Chris Downs, Sarah Gardner, Terra Graham, Carolyn Hill, Dr. Chris Kauffman, Dr. Rashad Mahmudov, Dr. Desirae Matherly, Dr. Nancy Moody, Suzanne Richey, Lindsey Seal, Brandon Steele,  Mavis Ware and Clay Wilkerson.
