Kickoff for Fresh Savings proKickoff for Fresh Savings program to be held Tuesday, June 13, at Tusculum’s Doak House Museum

Fresh produce tasting and give-a-ways will be part of the kickoff Tuesday, June 13, of the Fresh Savings program in Greene County.

The kickoff will be held between 4 and 5:30 p.m. in the picnic area of the Doak House Museum on the Tusculum College campus. The Doak House is located at 690 Erwin Highway.

Fresh Savings is a healthy-food incentive program of the AARP Foundation that encourages SNAP recipients to stretch their food dollars and purchase more fruits and vegetables. The program is now available at the Greeneville Farmers Market.

In addition to food tasting and give-a-aways, the kickoff will provide updates about the program and networking opportunities.  SNAP participants and those interested in volunteering in the program are encouraged to attend the kickoff. Volunteers are needed to help with outreach and simple training sessions in the community.

The AARP Foundation and the Greeneville Farmers Market are hosting the event. Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP to Victoria Raschke of the AARP Foundation at vrashke@aarp.org.
