One-hundred and forty-eight student-athletes have been named to the 2012 Tusculum College Athletic Director’s Spring Honor Roll announced Frankie DeBusk, Director of Athletics at Tusculum.
To be selected to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, a student-athlete must accumulate either a semester or cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
The Tusculum baseball and football teams boasted the most student-athletes on the honor roll with 22 honorees each. The Tusculum women’s soccer team was third with 19 student-athletes on the list, while the Pioneer softball and men’s soccer teams were tied for fourth with 15 honorees apiece. The volleyball team was sixth with 11 honorees, followed by women’s golf (seven), men’s tennis (six), women’s basketball (six), men’s golf (six), women’s tennis (six), men’s basketball (five), women’s cross country (five) and men’s cross country (three).
The women’s cross country team had the highest cumulative grade point average of the 14 sports sponsored by the College with a 3.674 team GPA, edging out women’s golf, who boasted a GPA of 3.634. Of Tusculum’s 14 athletic programs, eight boasted a team GPA of 3.00 or better. The volleyball team was third with a 3.538 GPA, followed by men’s tennis (3.494), softball (3.356), women’s soccer (3.291), men’s golf (3.167) and women’s tennis (3.078).
