Front-end Web Developer

DESCRIPTION:

Tusculum University invites applications for a front-end web developer. The front-end web developer is the primary member of the Office of Communications and Marketing to develop and maintain a robust and attractive website that leads students to enroll at Tusculum University. The position plays a vital role in the recruitment of students, as well as faculty and staff members, by ensuring the university has an inviting, informative, functional and user-friendly website in all viewable platforms. The front-end web developer maintains the website in conformance with the branding guidelines of the institution and is responsible for increasing the website’s performance. The person who holds this position must be proficient in technical details associated with front-end web development. This position will report to the Director of Communications and Marketing. As part of this position, the front-end web developer might assist with development and processing of university social media posts, graphic design, projects, writing assignments, editing, photography and video.

This position will remain open until filled.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in information technology, computer science communications, marketing, design or related field preferred; equivalent education and/or experience to potentially substitute for these requirements
• One to two years’ experience with increasing responsibility in web content, layout, and design, and graphic design
• Understanding of standard web languages
• Knowledge of W3C Web Standards, ADA and Sections 508 and 504 compliance
• Experience or knowledge of WordPress
• Demonstrated understanding of mobile-first design approach
• Experience in web design integrated into content management systems
• Knowledge of and proficiency with standard graphic design software as well as in-browser design methods
• Experience collaborating with other members of an organization to meet goals and outcomes
• Experience with taking and editing photographs
• Experience creating video content, a plus
• Experience developing virtual tours, a plus
