This 12-month, full-time position will report to the Executive Director of TRIO Programs and requires routine evening and weekend work. The Director recruits and serves first-generation and low-income high school students in Greene County, Hamblen County, Unicoi County, and Washington County school districts. The Director manages the daily operation of the program including oversight of staff as well as recruitment of participants and facilitation of program activities including, but not limited to academic advising, tutoring, college readiness services, field trips, cultural enrichment events, and an immersive six-week Summer Academy. Candidates for this position must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet program participants&#8217; needs.<br \/>\nThe Director of Upward Bound is additionally responsible for collecting, maintaining, and reporting student outcomes data in accordance with the United States Department of Education guidelines for federal TRIO Programs. Applicants must have a commitment to the philosophy and goals of the program and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS &amp; REQUIREMENTS: <\/strong><br \/>\nCandidates must have a master\u2019s degree and a minimum of 3 years\u2019 experience in TRIO Programs, education, social or behavioral sciences, counseling, student personnel, or related field(s); previous personnel management experience preferred. Candidates must exhibit a commitment to the philosophy and goals of the program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work is normally performed in a typical interior\/office work environment. The employee will be required to work irregular hours including nights and weekends;<\/li>\n<li>Able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion;<\/li>\n<li>Communicate effectively;<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to walk distances, sit or stand for long periods of time, and climb stairs.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to talk and hear;<\/li>\n<li>Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus;<\/li>\n<li>Must have a valid driver\u2019s license and reliable transportation to travel from the campus to target-area schools and school district offices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>OTHER<\/strong>:<br \/>\nAs listed, this job\u2019s essential duties are not intended to be all inclusive; other functions may be changed with or without notice.
