She will oversee a highly skilled team that recruits and admits students to Tennessee’s first higher education institution. She will lead and support planning and implementation of the university’s strategic plan and goals for enrollment.

“We are excited to add Dr. Williams to the Executive Cabinet and will benefit from her expertise and experience to drive our enrollment initiatives,” said Dr. James Hurley, Tusculum’s president. “She has a proven record of success and will be a tremendous asset working in concert with our faculty and staff to showcase Tusculum’s strength and quality.”

Dr. Williams comes to Tusculum after serving East Tennessee State University for three decades, most recently as vice provost for community engagement. Earlier positions included vice provost for enrollment, executive director of admissions and assistant vice provost for student retention. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s in counseling and guidance and a doctorate in education, all from ETSU.

Tusculum is experiencing growth, with the university developing the Niswonger College of Optometry and physician assistant program. The College of Business and College of Education have also entered partnerships with educational institutions and businesses to aid enrollment.

The caliber of the academic programs, students, faculty and staff inspired Dr. Williams to join the Tusculum family. Tusculum’s rich history of serving Appalachia, which will be honored this fall with a 225th anniversary celebration, also impressed her.

“Dr. Hurley is a visionary leader, and I am extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to serve with him,” Dr. Williams said. “As Tusculum moves forward with many programs that will transform education and build on our history of achievement, I am thrilled to be part of the extensive network within the university that will make it happen.”
