Pastors Prayer Breakfast to kick off Tusculum University homecoming activities

GREENEVILLETusculum University will kick off its annual homecoming celebration with an opportunity for clergy and other religious leaders to pray for everyone at the higher education institution.

The university will hold its second annual Pastors Prayer Breakfast Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the Brotherton Boardroom on the third floor of the Meen Center. The event is geared to ministers of all denominations, lay leaders, deacons and religious organization leaders.

After participants have breakfast and time for fellowship, Dr. David Smith, pastor of Tusculum Baptist Church and an adjunct professor at the university, will conduct a devotion. When he concludes, the remainder of the people in attendance will pray for Dr. Greg Nelson, Tusculum’s acting president, and then join him in praying for the faculty, staff, students and members of the campus chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

“We welcome the community to campus and greatly appreciate these dedicated men and women of faith praying for us,” said Dr. Ronda Gentry, an ordained Baptist minister as well as Tusculum’s executive director of student persistence and engagement and assistant professor of religious studies. “As we enter a special week on campus, their grace and love will inspire the Tusculum family and guide us during the academic year.”

The Pastors Prayer Breakfast is free, but reservations are required by Wednesday, Sept. 25. To secure a spot, please email Nicole Rader, Tusculum’s director of special events, at nrader@tusculum.edu.
