He will begin his duties on Jan. 16.<\/p>\n<p>Wilkinson comes to Tusculum from Mitchell Community College in Statesville, North Carolina, where he served as vice president for administration and as chief operating officer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now is an exciting time to join Tusculum. My family and I are excited about Dr. Hurley\u2019s vision and were overcome with the warm, welcoming atmosphere. It feels like home,\u201d said Wilkinson.<\/p>\n<p>In his new role Wilkinson will be key member of the president\u2019s executive leadership team, assuming a strategic role in the overall management and direction of the organization including day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_15940\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-15940\" href=\"https:\/\/www3.tusculum.edu\/news\/news\/2017\/john-wilkinson-named-vice-president-for-finance-and-chief-financial-officer-at-tusculum\/attachment\/wilkinsonweb\/\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15940\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15940\" title=\"Wilkinsonweb\" src=\"https:\/\/www3.tusculum.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wilkinsonweb-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www3.tusculum.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wilkinsonweb-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www3.tusculum.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wilkinsonweb-290x290.jpg 290w, https:\/\/www3.tusculum.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wilkinsonweb.jpg 603w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-15940\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">John Wilkinson<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cJohn has extensive experience with financial management, operations management, governmental accounting, budgeting, risk management and contract management solutions, all of which requires deep understanding of critical business drivers,\u201d said Dr. James Hurley, president of Tusculum. \u201cWe are extremely pleased to have him join our team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wilkinson will supervise all activities related to accounting, finance, budget and forecasting, strategic planning, purchasing and contracting, audit program integrity, financial policy, directing the fiscal health and control, facilities, maintenance and physical plant operations, as well as maintaining key relationships with regulatory agencies, advocacy groups and trade associations.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining Mitchell Community College, Wilkinson worked as a financial consultant and as assistant chief financial officer at Lakota Local School District in Liberty Township, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>He holds an MBA in accounting from Indiana Wesleyan University and a bachelor\u2019s degree in history from Miami University in Ohio.
