Dr. David Bow, professor of physical education at Tusculum, was honored with the Bell Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tennessee Technological University College of Education, Department of Exercise Science, Physical Education and Wellness in April.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, April 28, Dr. Bow was presented the award, made in honor of Dr. LeBron Bell,\u00a0who\u00a0is completing\u00a0his\u00a045th year\u00a0as\u00a0a professor\u00a0in the Department of Exercise Science, Physical Education and Wellness at Tennessee Tech.<\/p>\n

Dr. David Bow<\/p><\/div>\n

Dr. Bow is beginning his 49th year as a\u00a0continuously certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor\u00a0and\u00a0is in his\u00a041st<\/sup> year\u00a0of service as a faculty member at Tusculum.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0December 2017,\u00a0Dr. Bow\u00a0completed Re-Certification\u00a0in\u00a0Lifeguarding, Lifeguard Instructor Trainer, Water Safety Instructor and Water\u00a0Safety Instructor Trainer.<\/p>\n

This\u00a0training\u00a0required\u00a0“in-water<\/strong>”\u00a0<\/strong>performance\u00a0of lifeguarding\u00a0and\u00a0CPR\u00a0skills\u00a0as well as\u00a0a\u00a0review\u00a0of\u00a0the updated\u00a0Participant\u00a0and Instructor\u00a0Manuals.\u00a0These renewed\u00a0Instructor and Instructor Trainer Certifications allow\u00a0Dr. Bow to\u00a0provide\u00a0Red Cross\u00a0Certification\u00a0for\u00a0his students\u00a0in\u00a0Lifeguarding, Swimming, First Aid and CPR.<\/p>\n

He has served in several leadership positions at the college including six terms as faculty moderator, coordinator\/chairman of the physical education program, director of athletics and a coach. His work in athletics has been recognized through his election to the Tusculum Sports Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bow earned his doctorate in physical education at Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Arts in health and physical education from Tennessee Technological University. He is a member of the Society for Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE America) and the Tennessee Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.<\/p>\n

He was president of the Tennessee Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance from 1996 to 1997 and has served on the TAHPERD Executive Board for 33 years.<\/p>\n

At Tusculum, Dr. Bow teaches such courses as Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Kinesiology, Physiology of Exercise, Wellness, Swimming, Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
