GREENEVILLE<\/strong> \u2013 Tusculum University<\/a> is demonstrating its commitment to civic engagement and support of students with new initiatives that will reduce the cost for many individuals seeking a master\u2019s degree in the education field.<\/h3>\n

Employees of companies with which the College of Business<\/a> has corporate partnerships will now be eligible for a 10 percent tuition scholarship should they enroll in Tusculum\u2019s Master of Arts in talent development program. In addition, teachers in Tusculum\u2019s partner school districts will receive a $500 scholarship per full-time semester if they seek a Master of Arts in education at Tusculum.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tusculum is also offering its students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in int<\/p>\n

erdisciplinary studies \u2013 the institution\u2019s elementary education program \u2013 a $500 scholarship if they immediately pursue the Master of Arts in education from the university.<\/p>\n

\u201cA master\u2019s degree is often a key distinction for people who are seeking to advance in their profession or begin their careers at a higher level,\u201d said Dr. Madison Sowell, Tusculum\u2019s provost and vice president of academic affairs. \u201cTusculum has been a pioneer in education since our founding 225 years ago, and this program for our outstanding College of Education<\/a> is another way we are showcasing our leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n

These scholarships are available immediately.<\/p>\n

Dr. Tricia Hunsader, the College of Education\u2019s dean, said Tusculum is expanding the corporate partners program in response to a request from one of the companies. She said the scholarship for current undergraduates at Tusculum is a worthwhile initiative to encourage them not to delay pursuit of an advanced degree.<\/p>\n

The new scholarship for teachers in East Tennessee school systems with which Tusculum has a partnership agreement to use for student clinical experiences is a way to show appreciation for these districts, Dr. Hunsader said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny teacher from these districts who receives our Master of Arts in education would be even better prepared to be an outstanding mentor for our students entering the profession, and the additional knowledge will help their students,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
