GREENEVILLE<\/strong> \u2013 Leaders of Tusculum University<\/a> and the First Tennessee Foundation<\/a> recently celebrated the awarding of $10,000 for the third year of grant funding support for the Meen Center.<\/h3>\n

The funds are part of a $50,000 grant the university received to\u00a0name the building\u2019s foyer area after the foundation. This grants assisted with the construction of the 100,000-square-foot Meen Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to the First Tennessee Foundation for recognizing the Meen Center\u2019s value to the university and the region,\u201d said Jill Salyers, Tusculum\u2019s vice president institutional advancement, marketing and communications. \u201cThe Meen Center plays a vital role in Tusculum\u2019s continuing growth, and this grant demonstrates how partnerships between the university and philanthropic organizations make this progress possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Meen Center is home to the College of Health Sciences<\/a>, which includes programs such as nursing and psychology, and will be for the College of Optometry and the physician assistant program, pending accreditation. The building also houses the natural sciences department, which includes biology, chemistry and environmental science, as well as the mathematics and computer science department.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to support the Meen Center, which is enabling Tusculum to be pioneers in many fields of study that will strengthen the quality of life in our region and the state,\u201d said Jennifer Keller, vice president of First Tennessee Bank in Greeneville. \u201cTusculum and the First Tennessee Foundation are focused on civic engagement and creating an environment for the region to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n
