It is nice to see them have such an amazing opportunity to represent the university on a national stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The students who participated and the instrument they played are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hughston Burnheimer, mellophone<\/li>\n<li>Haley Gibson, bass drum<\/li>\n<li>Derek Hatcher, sousaphone<\/li>\n<li>Jyclyn West, clarinet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tusculum became part of the taping due to a connection between Dr. Gonzalez, Tusculum\u2019s director of bands, and a friend who serves as one of the show\u2019s producers. The producer inquired about a potential band that could be part of the show, and Dr. Gonzalez said the Tusculum band could assist. The Tusculum band members marched as part of the announcement of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>No airdate has been given for the show, but it will be later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Uniforms for the re-formed band are on order, so when this opportunity arose, Dr. Gonzalez enlisted the aid of local high schools. Morristown East High School responded by providing uniforms, which Erin Schultz, Tusculum\u2019s costume director, modified slightly to give a Tusculum feel. Some of the members also participate in the Greene County Community Band. The band will perform during the <a href=\"https:\/\/go.tusculum.edu\/homecoming\/\">Homecoming<\/a> parade in October and as a pep band during the final three home football games this year.<\/p>\n<p>Starting with the 2022-23 academic year, Tusculum added a music minor to the course catalog. In the future, Tusculum plans to have a marching band for home football games and create a university choir.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are exciting times for our music program, and we thrilled to be on a path for continued growth,\u201d Dr. Gonzalez said. \u201cFor students who enjoy playing an instrument or demonstrating their love for music in other ways as well, our program is ideal.
