Members of the Jazz Band at Tusculum College get in the Christmas spirit during a recent practice for the upcoming concert. <\/p><\/div>\n

The sounds of the holidays will fill the air Tuesday, Dec. 6, when the Tusculum College band program presents its first Christmas concert.<\/p>\n

The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Building.<\/p>\n

Performing will be the Handbell Choir, a Brass Quintet, the Jazz Band and Concert Band in a seamless format with continuous music. The Brass Quintet will set the mood for the concert, opening with \u201cDeck the Halls.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Handbell Choir will perform such standards as \u201cJingle Bells\u201d and join with the Concert Band for \u201cChristmas Bells Overture,\u201d On This Day Earth Shall Ring\u201d and \u201cHappy Christmas (War is Over).\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA Charlie Brown Christmas\u201d medley, \u201cChristmas Fantasy for Jazz Band\u201d and \u201cAnd the Angels Swing\u201d will feature the Jazz Band.<\/p>\n

The Concert Band will be performing such holiday pieces as the \u201cCeltic Bell Carol,\u201d \u201cAll is Calm,\u201d \u201cAppalachian Carol\u201d and \u201cAn American Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The band program began in 2010 with the formation of a pep band and has grown to include a Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Handbell Choir and various small ensembles. The Jazz Band performed its first concert in April and joined the Concert Band and Handbell Choir for a concert in May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
