’90s

Larry R. Estepp ’91 of Kingsport, TN, has joined the executive management team at Citizens Bank. As executive vice president, Larry will focus on commercial lending and business development throughout the Tri-Cities region. He has 38 years of service in the financial industry, including several management positions at First Tennessee Bank. Active in the community, Larry received the 2009 Distinguished Leadership Award from the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce. Recently, his community involvement has included chairman of the Kingsport Economic Development Board, chairman of the United Way campaign, chairman of NETWORKS – Sullivan Partnership and president of the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Tusculum College Board of Trustees from 1991 to 2003. Larry is also a Holston Business Group founding board member and currently serves on the Phipps Bend Industrial Park Board and the Sequoyah Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

 

Allen Vital ’92 of Greeneville, TN, Tusculum College head men’s soccer coach, was named South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year on November 3. In his first season as head coach at his alma mater after 14 seasons at Carson-Newman, Allen earned SAC Coach of the Year honors for the sixth time in his career after leading the Pioneers to a remarkable turnaround season. Tusculum finished 1-8 and in ninth place in the SAC in 2010, but under Allen’s tutelage the Pioneers soared to second place in the league with a 6-1-2 record despite starting as many as 10 freshmen. It is the ninth time in his 15-year career in the SAC that he has guided a team to either first or second place in the conference standings.

Kyle Becker ’01 and his wife, Kelly, of Apopoka, FL, share this photo of their growing family. Emily just turned four months old and big sister Madelyn will be four years old in March.

 

Mike Joy ’03 of Greeneville, TN, Tusculum’s women’s soccer head coach reached a milestone on October 26 with his 200th victory as a head coach of the Pioneers as the team defeated conference rival Carson-Newman College. Joy is in his 15th season as head coach.

 

Autumn “Sunshine” Broyles ’06 of Mosheim, TN, is serving as interim assistant principal at Doak Elementary School. She was named to the position in September. Sunshine has 11 years of experience as a teacher at Doak School. She has served as assessment coach, the K-2 data coordinator, parent involvement coordinator and is a leader in the Accelerated Reader program. After earning her master’s at Tusculum, she has earned an educational specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University.

 

 

 

’40s

Evelyn Carter Fry ’43 of Chattanooga, TN, passed away October 26, 2011. She was retired from TVA in Knoxville. She had been a member of Brainerd Baptist Church since 1961 and an active member of her Sunday School class. Mrs. Fry served as a substitute teacher and a librarian for Brainerd Baptist Kindergarten, served on the Church Library Staff for many years, served as the President of the Chattanooga Boys Choir Guild and served on the Allied Arts Council. She held a Life Membership in the P.T.A. at Anna B. Lacy School and served on the Hamilton County P. T. A. Council. Mrs. Fry was also a member of the TVA Retirement Association and was a member of the Missionary Ridge Chapter 1777 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Her survivors include her husband of 61 years, Clifford D. Fry ’49.

 

Edward Woodward ’43 of Bay Head, NJ, passed away on October 24, 2005. Mr. Woodward was retired from Channel Home Centers.
