A group of more than 30 students worked toward “Pioneering a Cure” recently and raised more than $1,700 towards finding a cure for cancer.

The group, headed up by Resident Assistants, participated in the April 3 “Relay for Life” event held at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.

As part of their efforts, the group hosted a traveling bake sale of homemade treats on campus and set up roadblocks to collect funds. The students also distributed tickets for dinner at Zaxby’s. The restaurant contributed 20 percent of the sales made of those who presented tickets during the dinner hours on April 2.
