Tusculum College has been selected and approved as an official ACT testing site, College officials announced this week.
The approval came from ACT after the College received a request from the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association to become an official test site. The College was notified in March that they had been approved, according to Melissa Ripley, director of operations and marketing for the College’s Admissions Department.
The ACT exam is a requirement for all students who are juniors in high school in the fall of 2009. The ACT test is also a requirement for college admission at Tusculum College and is America’s most widely accepted college entrance exam.
According to Ripley, Tusculum will be a great testing site addition for local and regional students for a variety of reasons, including that they will be able to take the ACT in a familiar environment, close to home.
“It also shows Tusculum College’s commitment to college readiness,” said Ripley, adding that the Admissions Department makes every effort to assist high school student with college readiness and encourage their continued education, whether at Tusculum College or at another institution of higher learning.
Vice President for Enrollment Management Jacquelyn D. Elliott will serve as the test supervisor for the Tusculum College testing site, with Ripley serving as the alternate /substitute. Other school staff members have agreed to serve as room supervisors and proctors.
The College will participate in all national testing dates, which are set June 13, 2009, September 12, 2009, October 24, 2009, December 12, 2009, April 10, 2010 and June 12, 2010. The testing will be held in quiet areas on campus – free from distractions and other events, and with plenty of space between examinees for security purposes, said Ripley.
