Tusculum football game to be televised live tonight

cheeringThis evening, Tusculum College will celebrate a milestone – its first live broadcast of an athletic event on campus. Alumni in the region are encouraged to bring a friend or their family to support the Pioneers in their game against Wingate University. Help fill the stands and visitors section and cheer for the cameras! Kickoff is at 8:05 p.m. For those of you who can’t join the excitement on campus, watch the action live on FSN Fox Sports South or CBS College Sports.

Everyone is encouraged to attend, bring a friend and consider sitting on the visitors side, which will be in the direct line of sight of the main broadcasting cameras. Wear your Tusculum orange for greatest visual effect. And, if you don’t have the perfect thing to wear, the Tusculum College Bookstore is hosting a t-shirt sale, buy one and get the second at half price.

Also planned for the game, the Greeneville High School Marching Band will support the team from the stands and perform a half-time show.

The Pioneer Club Tailgate Party will be held from 6-7:45 p.m. on the concourse at Pioneer Park. RSVPs are requested. To RSVP, contact bsell@tusculum.edu or call (423) 636-7303. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Tailgate Party.

This week has also been Pioneer Spirit Week on campus featuring activities each day. The events, sponsored by the Office of Institutional Advancement, include a variety of ways to show Pioneer Spirit!

Monday was Pioneer Spirit Sign Day. People were invited to pick up Pioneer Club Spirit Signs and enjoy a refreshing drink courtesy of the Advancement staff.

On Tuesday, the Tusculum College Bookstore offered a 20 percent discount on selected items.

Wednesday allowed members of the campus community to show their Pioneer creativity by showcasing their favorite team-spirited dessert! Special guest judges were the leaders of this year’s Pioneer Club Campaign – Chairman Dr. Craig Shepherd and Co-Chairmen Larry Coughlin and Mike Hollowell. The top dessert was by April Lane, who works in the TRIO Program office. Her prizes were a lunch for two provided by the Tusculum Eatery, and a gift basket from Three Blind Mice for second place.

For Game Day, the campus community is encouraged to show their Pioneer Spirit by wearing their favorite  orange or black Tusculum College apparel.

On Friday, there will be a Post-game Ice Cream Social for faculty, staff and students, hosted by the Office of Institutional Advancement.
