GREENEVILLE – Leaders of Tusculum University and the First Tennessee Foundation recently celebrated the awarding of $10,000 for the third year of grant funding support for the Meen Center.

The funds are part of a $50,000 grant the university received to name the building’s foyer area after the foundation. This grants assisted with the construction of the 100,000-square-foot Meen Center.

“We’re grateful to the First Tennessee Foundation for recognizing the Meen Center’s value to the university and the region,” said Jill Salyers, Tusculum’s vice president institutional advancement, marketing and communications. “The Meen Center plays a vital role in Tusculum’s continuing growth, and this grant demonstrates how partnerships between the university and philanthropic organizations make this progress possible.”

The Meen Center is home to the College of Health Sciences, which includes programs such as nursing and psychology, and will be for the College of Optometry and the physician assistant program, pending accreditation. The building also houses the natural sciences department, which includes biology, chemistry and environmental science, as well as the mathematics and computer science department.

“We are thrilled to support the Meen Center, which is enabling Tusculum to be pioneers in many fields of study that will strengthen the quality of life in our region and the state,” said Jennifer Keller, vice president of First Tennessee Bank in Greeneville. “Tusculum and the First Tennessee Foundation are focused on civic engagement and creating an environment for the region to thrive.”
