Tusculum Acts, Arts, Academia schedules full slate of events for remainder of school year

GREENEVILLE – Audiences will enjoy a broad spectrum of events for the remainder of the school year, including musicals, concerts and lectures, from Tusculum University Acts, Arts, Academia.

Members of the production team for “Matilda” take a break from their preparations for the upcoming performances at Tusculum University.

Tusculum family members and representatives from the community have scheduled 11 events in the Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Center that will delight guests of all ages and showcase the talent from on-stage performers and those who work behind the scenes.

“Our schedule will enrich the lives of our audiences by enabling them to expand their cultural horizons through different art forms,” said Marilyn DuBrisk, Tusculum’s artist-in-residence. “These diverse events will be fun, thought-provoking and informative, and we encourage everyone to experience them on our beautiful campus.”

The events are:

  • “What Makes for a Great Novel,” presented by the English and Fine Arts Department, a lecture by Orson Scott Card, author of “Ender’s Game,” Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Behan Arena Theatre; $10 for anyone 12 and older, $5 for others
  • “Matilda, the Musical,” presented by Theatre-at-Tusculum, Nov. 8, 9, 14,15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 10 and 17 at 2 p.m. in the Annie Hogan Byrd Theatre; $15 for anyone 12 and older, $12 for anyone 60 and older and $5 for children younger than 12
  • Tusculum University Band Christmas Concert, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Annie Hogan Byrd Theatre; free
  • “The Messiah,” presented by Tusculum University Chorus, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Annie Hogan Byrd Theatre; free
  • “Pollyanna,” presented by Central Ballet Theatre, Jan. 24-25 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 25-26 at 2 p.m., Annie Hogan Byrd Theatre; $10 for anyone 12 and older, $5 for others
  • “Young Frankenstein,” presented by Theatre-at-Tusculum, Feb. 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 23 and March 1 at 2 p.m. in the Behan Arena Theatre; $15 for anyone 12 and older, $12 for anyone 60 and older and $5 for children younger than 12
  • “The Art of Easter: A Panoramic Journey,” a lecture presented April 7 at 7 p.m. in the Behan Arena Theatre; $10 for anyone 12 and older, $5 for others
  • “All the World’s a Song: Shakespeare in Jazz,” presented by Daniel Kelley, April 16 at 7 p.m. in the Annie Hogan Byrd Theatre; $15 for anyone 12 and older, $12 for anyone 60 and older and $5 for children younger than 12
  • “Let Us Entertain You: GLAWPIGT and Friends,” presented by Theatre-at-Tusculum in conjunction with the Old Oak Festival, April 23-25 at 7 p.m. and April 25-26 at 2 p.m. in the Behan Arena Theatre; $10 for anyone 12 and older, $5 for others
  • Tusculum University Chorus Spring Concert, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Annie Hogan Byrd Theatre; free
  • Tusculum University Band Spring Concert, April 30 at 7 p.m. in the Annie Hogan Byrd Theatre; free
