Tusculum selected as one of the 10 Best Colleges for Jobs in Tennessee by national company

GREENEVILLETusculum University has been selected among the 10 Best Colleges for Jobs in Tennessee by a national company that helps organizations seeking employees and those looking for work accomplish their goals.

Zippia named Tusculum ninth in the state, with 90.23% of its graduates having jobs within 10 years of graduation. Tusculum was the only institution among the top 10 with a main campus in Northeast Tennessee.

“Our faculty and staff are committed to instilling the knowledge and skills in our students that increase their employment opportunities after graduation,” said Dr. Greg Nelson, Tusculum’s acting president. “Tusculum is proud to provide a high-quality education across multiple disciplines and is grateful for this external validation of our efforts.”

Zippia said it used College Scorecard Data from the federal government to search for the institution in each state with the highest listed job placement ratings. The company looked at employment levels 10 years after students graduated. Zippia said it limited its analysis to the 37 public and nonprofit, four-year colleges in Tennessee that provide at least a bachelor’s degree.

Tusculum offers more than 70 majors and areas of study in the undergraduate program. This includes a new marketing concentration and recently established minors in management, entrepreneurship and economics with the Bachelor of Arts in business administration program. On the graduate program side, Tusculum began offering the Masters of Arts in Sport Administration degree this fall in addition to multiple programs that have been in place for many years.

Students have access to a robust career services program at Tusculum, such as videos, career assessments, career advising, workshops, job fairs, job shadowing, internships and tips for developing resumes and cover letters. The career services program also encourages students to develop a four-year plan.

“Many students have distinguished themselves after graduation and served as an example for those who follow them as Pioneers,” Dr. Nelson said. “We also have a hard-working and dedicated student body today that is not only focused on their studies but also on service to the community. They will continue our tradition of providing well-prepared young professionals who are ready to help their employers succeed.”
