Tusculum is inviting prospective new traditional students to two open houses.

Then come to Tusculum University Saturday, Oct. 14, or Friday, Nov. 10, for an open house and learn how the university will help you achieve your academic dreams. Prospective students will discover more about academic and residential life at the university and tour the campus.

The Oct. 14 open house will take place from 9:30 a.m.-noon, and the Nov. 10 one will span from 2-5 p.m. Both will conclude with optional athletic events.

“Tusculum is an exceptional university to develop academically, socially and spiritually,” said Dr. Jacob Fait, vice president of enrollment management and financial aid. “We enrich the lives of our students with active and experiential learning, which provides them with the skills and knowledge that will make them successful after graduation. Students also have a lot of fun and have multiple opportunities to be civically engaged on campus and in the community as well as grow their faith.”

Tusculum offers more than 60 majors, minors and pre-professional programs in the undergraduate program, with the ability to follow up with a master’s degree. The university has multiple clubs and organizations, abundant intramural programs, 23 athletic teams and several options for ministry and faith development.

During both open houses, prospective students will receive a welcome message from Dr. Scott Hummel, Tusculum’s president. Students will have a session where they will learn more about all components of life as a Pioneer, and parents will have a separate session where they can receive valuable information about the Tusculum experience. Each open house will conclude with a campus tour and a visit to a sample residence hall room.

Those who attend the Oct. 14 open house will have the extra treat of being on campus during the heart of Homecoming weekend and will be able to witness the parade and receive a free ticket to Tusculum’s football game against UVA Wise at Pioneer Field. Attendees of the Nov. 10 open house can enjoy a delicious dinner in the Tusculum cafeteria and then attend the men’s basketball game against Lander University in Pioneer Arena, both for free.

“Students who enroll at Tusculum benefit from our smaller size because professors and staff know their names and are committed to their success,” said Jacob Cutshall, executive director of admissions. “They are not lost in the crowd and can quickly become integral members and leaders of campus groups. We have watched alumni develop their own organizations, become executives of prominent sports leagues and win national awards due to what they learned at Tusculum. We look forward to the next class of new Pioneers making its mark.”
