Breese serves as director of marketing, effective Monday, Nov. 27. He oversees the university’s website, social media presence, graphic design, digital marketing and advertising initiatives. He collaborates with stakeholders throughout the Christian higher education institution to support new student recruitment, philanthropic efforts and other projects at the university through high-quality marketing.

“We’re pleased to welcome Edward to Tusculum and look forward to utilizing his marketing expertise to assist us with our strategic growth,” said Dr. Jacob Fait, vice president of enrollment management and financial aid, who also oversees the Office of Marketing. “Edward brings an impressive track record of success and a diverse background that will benefit us considerably. His experience in the higher education space will also enable him to hit the ground running and have a positive impact on Tusculum.”

Most recently, Breese served as community relations manager for Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee, which is based in Blountville. Among his duties were digital marketing, fundraising, social media and website management, brand marketing and advertising budget development.

For two years, Breese served as webmaster while he was a graduate assistant in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at East Tennessee State University. He maintained the department’s website, provided social media development and management and created content marketing.

At the same time, he served as social media manager and consultant for the Northeast State Community College Theater Department. He created content and scheduled Facebook and Instagram posts, supervised students developing YouTube content for the launch of a department channel and supported organic marketing for auditions and performances through social media.

Breese’s connections to theater run deep. He served as artistic director of Blue Moon Theatre Company for 10 years. Among his tactics were creating and executing successful marketing campaigns and increasing brand awareness through social media.

“I am excited to lead Tusculum marketing campaigns and help share the university’s story of providing outstanding active and experiential learning in a caring Christian environment,” Breese said. “Tusculum is terrific at equipping students to be career-ready, civically engaged professionals and is extremely affordable. Our thorough marketing efforts will ensure prospective students know our university is ready to help them achieve an exceptional education and is the right choice for them.”

Breese holds a bachelor’s degree in communications, with a concentration in speech and theater, and a master’s degree in digital marketing, both from ETSU. He received ETSU’s Outstanding Alumni Award in 2015.
