One-hundred and forty-two student-athletes have been named to the 2011 Tusculum College Athletic Director’s Fall Honor Roll announced Frankie DeBusk, Tusculum College’s Director of Athletics.
To be selected to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, a student-athlete must accumulate either a semester or cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
The Tusculum baseball team boasted the most student-athletes on the honor roll with 20 honorees. The women’s soccer team was second with 18 student-athletes on the list, while the Pioneer football team was third with 17 selections. The softball team was fourth with 15 honorees, followed by men’s soccer (14), volleyball (12), men’s basketball (7), men’s tennis (7), women’s golf (7), women’s basketball (6), women’s tennis (6), women’s cross country (5), men’s golf (5) and men’s cross country (3).
The women’s golf team had the highest cumulative grade point average of the 14 sports sponsored by the College with a 3.629 team grade point average, edging out women’s cross country, who boasted a GPA of 3.621. Of Tusculum’s 14 athletic programs, nine boasted a team GPA of 3.00 or better. The men’s tennis team was third with 3.486, followed by volleyball (3.437), softball (3.282), women’s soccer (3.237), women’s tennis (3.127), men’s golf (3.115) and baseball (3.052).
