Assistant Professor of Management/Program Director of the Professional MBA Program

BRIEF JOB SUMMARY:

Each faculty member at Tusculum University is an integral part of teaching and mentoring students and enacting the University’s mission. In support of that mission, faculty should advance all components of the mission statement. This includes the university’s faith-based tradition, which emphasizes closeness of faculty-student involvement, both within and without the classroom, in order to cultivate citizenship, Christian character, and practical wisdom among members of the University community. As a part of that mission, the university is committed to creating a campus climate in which the Christian faith is reasonably and persuasively presented and in which the university offers a program of quality education in the liberal arts and sciences with the concept of the wholeness of life as interpreted by the Christian faith.

With that in mind, faculty are responsible for providing quality in-class instruction, mentoring students outside the classroom, serving on university committees, and engaging in other service that helps to further the University’s mission. Tusculum faculty are responsible for teaching a minimum of 15 credits in each of the fall and spring semesters. advising, service, scholarship, and professional development.

This is a new, fully online Professional MBA program offered in partnership with an outside vendor. The Program Director will be responsible for setting and overseeing the curriculum, teaching in the program, and coordinating efforts across the university to ensure students are well served. The role combines program leadership and faculty responsibilities. This is a 12-month contract and open to remote work arrangements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 18 graduate hours in the discipline required
  • Master’s degree required or PhD preferred
  • Mastery of technological competencies that facilitate 21st century literacies preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Teach lectures & labs as assigned by the Assistant Dean
  • Produce syllabi for each course section per the requirements outlined in the Faculty Handbook and any additional requirements outlined by the Assistant Dean
  • Keep careful attendance records for all enrolled students between the first day of classes and the published census date
  • Keep office hours (physically when possible and virtually otherwise) at least 5 regular hours per week
  • Serve on university committees, attend Faculty Assemblies, and engage in other faculty duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Actively further the University’s mission of providing “an active and experiential education within a caring Christian environment to inspire civic engagement, enrich personal lives, and equip career-ready professionals.”
