Student Support Multicultural Outreach and Retention Specialist (Greeneville Campus)

Tusculum University is currently accepting applications for the Multicultural Retention Specialist for the Student Support Services (SSS) TRiO Program.  This is an 11-month, full-time position.  Some evening and weekend work is required.  The Multicultural Retention Specialist works directly under the guidance of the Associate Director of Student Support Services.  Duties include recruiting first-generation and/or Pell grant eligible students for the SSS program; managing the mentoring program by recruiting and supervising qualified student mentors; and liaising between athletics and Student Support Services to promote participation in the SSS program.  The Multicultural Retention Specialist will design and participate in program activities (some of which entails physical exertion); collaborate with advising and career planning for program participants; coordinate financial literacy awareness services; and collaborate the University’s Financial Aid personnel to promote financial aid awareness.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Head Athletic Trainer with all aspects of the athletic training program and performing other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Athletic Director. The successful candidate will serve as primary athletic training services provider for one or more NCAA Division II athletic teams. Some team travel as well as night, weekend, and holiday work will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree is required. (Master’s Degree is preferred) Qualified applicants will have NATABOC certification and Tennessee licensure (or eligible). Candidate should possess effective time management skills, the ability to handle confidential information, effective oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to serve as a professional role model for athletic training students.

Tusculum University is currently seeking faculty for its College of Health Sciences – Optometry Program. Candidates should be passionate and experienced regarding classroom and clinical instruction. Through education, training, and mentoring, faculty members will provide students with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed at the highest level of professional optometric serves. The successful applicant will have excellent organization, communication, teaching and decision-making skills. Prior college teaching experience is strongly preferred. Tusculum University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of the Athletic Training/Athletic trainer. This is a full-time faculty position with primary responsibilities in teaching athletic training courses and providing athletic trainer duties in the athletic department; service to the University and community; and scholarly/professional development.  Additional responsibilities include academic instruction/supervision of athletic training students and assisting the program director in maintaining compliance with CAATE accreditation standards and providing athletic training duties for athletic.  Faculty members are to be committed to excellence in teaching. Faculty members are expected to contribute toward the good of the University through the maintenance of expertise in the discipline, and sharing time and talents with the larger College community.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from an accredited college or university, current BOC certification, and hold a current and unencumbered license, or be eligible for licensure, as an athletic trainer in the State of Tennessee.  Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in Athletic Training and prior teaching experience.
