Assistant Professor of Education

Tusculum University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Education for Fall 2026. Located in the foothills of the Southern Appalachian mountains, Tusculum provides the successful applicant the opportunity to foster experiential learning in a meaningful way. Over 50% of entering undergraduate students are considered first-generation students, and the close-knit community of Tusculum University provides a springboard for these students to succeed and thrive. • QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • A master’s degree in education or curriculum development or a closely related discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline is required; a doctorate or terminal degree in the discipline is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Teach lectures & labs as assigned by the Assistant Dean and in accordance with the load requirements listed in the Faculty Handbook
  • Produce syllabi for each course section per the requirements outlined in the Faculty Handbook and any additional requirements outlined by the Assistant Dean
  • Keep careful attendance records for all enrolled students between the first day of classes and the published census date
  • Keep office hours (physically when possible and virtually otherwise) at least 5 regular hours per week

  • Serve as an Advisor for students
  • Engage in mentoring students outside of class and being an active participant in the life of the university

Director of Alumni and External Relations

The Director of Alumni and External Relations, under the leadership of the Vice President of Institutional Advancement (VPIA), will assist with various aspects of alumni relations development, fundraising events, and campaigns within the development office.  The position will focus on the cultivation of alumni and constituent relationships, solicitation and retention of donors, and the identification and solicitation of new donors.

This position is also responsible for organizing, leading, and supervising all aspects of special events as directly assigned, as well as within direct correlation with any alumni relations function.   The Director must maintain a connection with every event assigned and have direct knowledge of customer needs.  Duties include but are not limited to developing, planning, and managing events while collaborating effectively with Institutional Advancement colleagues and those in other departments of the institution.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in marketing, communications, business, higher education, public relations, nonprofit leadership, or related field;
  • Experience in alumni relations, community engagement, fundraising, event planning, institutional advancement, or related field;
  • Experience developing and managing events, volunteer programs, and constituent engagement initiatives;
  • Experience with fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, and advancement software systems preferred.
  • Experience managing budgets and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Lead and support alumni engagement, annual giving, community engagement, and advancement initiatives that strengthen relationships and philanthropic support for Tusculum University;
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating annual fund campaigns, alumni outreach strategies, donor communications, and special fundraising initiatives;
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with alumni, donors, corporate sponsors, community organizations, civic groups, and external stakeholders;
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward assigned donor and alumni portfolios in coordination with Institutional Advancement leadership;
  • Utilize Raiser’s Edge and related advancement systems to document donor activity, track engagement efforts, manage communications, and maintain accurate constituent records;
  • Coordinate and oversee alumni programming, including reunions, networking events, regional gatherings, volunteer opportunities, affinity programs, and campus engagement activities;
  • Develop and strengthen community partnerships that enhance the university’s visibility, engagement, and collaborative opportunities throughout the region;

  • Collaborate with campus departments and external partners to coordinate logistics for events, including venue management, catering, vendor relations, entertainment, signage, security, setup, and breakdown procedures;
  • Develop, manage, and monitor assigned event and program budgets while identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation;
  • Assist in securing sponsorships, partnerships, and in-kind support from corporations, businesses, alumni, and community partners;
  • Prepare and implement event evaluations and assessment measures to determine effectiveness, constituent satisfaction, attendance outcomes, fundraising success, and operational improvements;
  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar of alumni, advancement, and community engagement activities while ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and deadlines;

Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Operations

Tusculum University is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Operations (AVPIE/AO). Reporting directly to the Provost, the AVPAA serves as a senior academic administrator who provides strategic and operational leadership for the Academic Affairs division. The position oversees key functions related to academic operations, institutional effectiveness, accreditation, institutional research, academic compliance, and continuous improvement. The AVPAA works collaboratively with Deans, faculty, and academic support personnel to support the effective day-to-day functioning of Academic Affairs, strengthen institutional quality and accountability, and advance the University’s strategic priorities and mission.

Primary responsibilities include leadership of institutional accreditation and compliance processes (including SACSCOC reaffirmation and substantive change initiatives), oversight of institutional effectiveness and program review processes, coordination of institutional research and reporting functions, operational leadership for academic administration, and support for strategic planning and institutional decision-making. The AVPAA also plays an important role in fostering collaboration across academic units, supporting data-informed planning and assessment, and helping ensure effective implementation of institutional initiatives. This is a year-round administrative position that normally teaches one course per semester.

Assistant Professor of Management/MBA Program Director

Tusculum University is searching for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Management/Program Director for the Masters of Business Administration degree.  The position is available for an August 2026 start. This dual role will be as a faculty member and as the Program Director for the MBA program.

BRIEF JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Retention, the Dean of Student Affairs serves as one of the primary professional contacts for the Office of Student Affairs and is responsible for the supervision of student life community spaces (The Perk, Wellness Center, etc.) and supervises the Student Affairs federal work-study students. This position will also oversee conduct, intramurals, and Student Wellness and Resources. Athletic Compliance – Intern

Under the direction of the Vice President of Athletics and the mentorship of the Associate Athletic Director of Compliance/SWA, this position will be a member of the compliance team and shall provide essential support to athletic department staff, student athletes, and other identified university personnel by monitoring adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules. In addition, intern will assist in the support and advancement of student-athlete development. This is a 10-month paid position.

Job Duties:

Core Compliance Responsibilities (70%)

Monitoring Activities: Track and monitor various activities to ensure compliance, including but not limited to countable athletically related activities (CARA) and related workflow processes.

Student-Athlete Eligibility: Assist in determining and monitoring initial and continuing eligibility status of student athletes, and maintaining related records.

Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain and file compliance-related forms and student-athlete files, ensuring all required documentation remains current and accurately stored with the use of internal and external compliance software systems.

Rules Education: Help develop and deliver educational materials and presentations on NCAA rules for coaches, staff, student-athletes, and boosters to ensure regulations are understood and followed.

Research and Interpretation: Conduct research on NCAA bylaws and provide support for rules interpretations, waivers, and violation reports.

  • Administrative Functions
    • Serve as the administrative leader (assistant dean) of the Education Division.
    • Meet regularly with the university administrative team and participate in continuous quality improvement activities.
    • Ensure that faculty are managing general contractual responsibilities such as posting schedules, submitting syllabi, reporting attendance, reporting grades, etc. by designated deadlines.
    • Recruit new adjunct faculty. Maintain and review a qualified and sufficient adjunct pool.
    • Collaborate with the faculty in the assessment of student learning, including determining student learning outcomes, choosing appropriate measures, setting benchmarks, and collecting assessment data.
    • Submit an annual SACSCOC Report which meets accrediting body and college standards.
    • Conduct annual reviews of faculty and staff.
    • Schedule and facilitate faculty meetings on a regular basis.
    • Cooperate with the Admissions Office and Office of Marketing and Communications to develop printed program and certificate materials, maintain current and relevant information on the college website, and recruit students.

Responsibilities include working to assure the safety and welfare of students, staff, faculty, invitees, and visitors on campus property, in campus facilities, and at institutional events by enforcing campus policies and regulations set forth by the College. The Clinical Experience Director will place all students for student teaching and clinical practicum and assign supervisors to the various locations. Requisite visits to each student will be completed or coordinated by the Director of edTPA for Teacher Education, Clinical Experience Supervisors, and Director of Clinical Experience.

Facilities Management Level 1

The Facilities Management Team at Tusculum University is seeking applicants for a housekeeping staff member. Financial Aid Administrator

BRIEF JOB SUMMARY:
The Financial Aid Administrator effectively counsels students and parents on all aspects of financial aid. Represents the University and the financial aid office at special events on and off campus. Coordinates the student employment program. Manages scholarships, awards, and packages financial aid according to regulations and policy. Performs the day-to-day financial aid processes in coordination with other campus departments while maintaining mandatory compliance with internal policies as well as state and federal guidelines and laws.  This position works with prospective and current students, as well as parents and families, and provides exceptional customer service. This position will work with Wolf recruited students to manage the awarding, monitoring, and disbursement of financial aid.

This position requires attention to detail, mathematical aptitude, effective oral, listening, and written communication skills, and works closely with other campus offices, including Admissions, Business Office, Registrar, and Athletics.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor degree required and 1 year of experience in the administration of Title IV aid, however an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training in higher education can be substituted.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reviews and verifies students’ financial aid status to determine eligibility;
  • Resolves conflicting information related to eligibility for all types of aid;
  • Records and documents all customer service transactions and award-related decisions;
  • Reviews reports generated from daily transmittal operations to assess and analyzes issues such as improper award amounts, and eligibility issues; takes a proactive approach to correct the issues, working closely with the Directors.
  • Completes daily tasks, including but not limited to responding to inquiries via phone and email, providing personal customer service, assisting with mail flow communication, processing of documents such as withdrawals or appeals, and file maintenance;
  • Participates in recruitment and outreach events as needed;
  • Either in person, through email, or by phone, provides high-quality customer service;
  • Performs daily transmittal operations related to processing student aid records via external and internal reporting and exporting;
  • Participates in staff development and training sessions;
  • Develops relationships with other departments;
  • Represent the University in a professional manner at all times;
  • Follows academic and other related administrative policies; and
  • Promotes the mission of Tusculum University to all faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Effective oral, listening, and written communication skills; an outgoing personality; customer service skills; the ability to work independently, and as part of a team; a flexible attitude; able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Knowledge of Title IV aid, Colleague, and SAY and BBAY awarding formulas
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
