Under the direction of the Vice President of Athletics and the mentorship of the Associate Athletic Director of Compliance/SWA, this position will be a member of the compliance team and shall provide essential support to athletic department staff, student athletes, and other identified university personnel by monitoring adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules. In addition, intern will assist in the support and advancement of student-athlete development. This is a 10-month paid position.
Job Duties:
Core Compliance Responsibilities (70%)
Monitoring Activities: Track and monitor various activities to ensure compliance, including but not limited to countable athletically related activities (CARA) and related workflow processes.
Student-Athlete Eligibility: Assist in determining and monitoring initial and continuing eligibility status of student athletes, and maintaining related records.
Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain and file compliance-related forms and student-athlete files, ensuring all required documentation remains current and accurately stored with the use of internal and external compliance software systems.
Rules Education: Help develop and deliver educational materials and presentations on NCAA rules for coaches, staff, student-athletes, and boosters to ensure regulations are understood and followed.
Research and Interpretation: Conduct research on NCAA bylaws and provide support for rules interpretations, waivers, and violation reports.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the compliance department, such as data entry, preparing reports, and attending departmental meetings and conference calls.
Core Student-Athlete Development Responsibilities (30%)
Career & Professional Development: Assist Director of Career Services (on-campus) with initiatives, programs, and services to enhance career development resources for student-athletes, such as organizing career fairs, identifying internships and volunteer opportunities, resume-building workshops, and connections with local and national employers, as well as alumni networks.
SAAC & Leadership Development: Serve as an advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), fostering leadership, community service, and student-athlete representation within the NCAA governance structure.
Personal Development & Well-being: Create and coordinate programming focusing on mental health, alcohol and drug awareness, sexual assault prevention, financial literacy, and social responsibility.
