Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs

DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA) is responsible for the oversight of the operations of the Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) program, including delivery of instruction and support services and facilities at all off-site locations. The AVPAA works collaboratively with the Vice President of Enrollment Management & Marketing (VPEMM) to assure GPS programs are fully enrolled and aggressively marketed.  The action plan growing out of this collaboration is responsible for meeting the revenue goal for the program.  This position ensures compliance with the “Principles of Accreditation” of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and with other accrediting agencies and is responsible for developing and maintaining, while assuring accuracy of all administrative publications and policy documents for the GPS program.  The AVPAA reports directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, serves as a confidential advisor to the President, chairs the Graduate and Professional Studies Council, is an ex-officio member of the College Council and a member of the Graduate Council.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

A master’s degree is required; doctorate preferred. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years teaching experience in higher education, preferably with teaching adult learners and a minimum of five years experience with increasing responsibility in academic administration in higher education. Higher education or related experience in enrollment and marketing is required along with knowledge in institutions employing the year-round cohort system in addition to traditional programs. Candidates must have the skills to maintain accreditation standards, produce documents, and the ability to report to regional accrediting agencies. Experience with database software and information systems (Ellucian and EMAS) are preferred. Qualified candidates must have excellent communication skills to build and sustain coalitions with key constituents both on and off campus; an interest in, and commitment to, diversity, community involvement, globalization, and leadership development; and a high level of personal and professional integrity. Candidates must also be able to drive frequently to other sites and community events.

Academic Advisor, Southeast Region (Knoxville Regional Center)

DESCRIPTION:

Tusculum College’s Knoxville Regional Center is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Academic Advisor for the southeast region. Responsibilities of this position include providing individual academic advising to students on academic matters such as the development of an academic plan, course selection, and academic performance review and guiding students in development of decision-making skills. Ensuring students understand degree requirements as well as academic policies and procedures. The successful candidate must provide outstanding service to a diverse non-traditional student population in a fast-paced team environment. Due to the evening and weekend class schedules, some evening and/or weekend work may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree required. Qualified candidates must have experience in enrollment counseling and/or advising adult students in degree completion programs in a higher education setting. Candidates should be highly motivated, enthusiastic, organized, and have excellent time management skills.

This position requires effective oral, listening, and written communication skills, an outgoing personality, customer service skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, a flexible attitude, and a willingness to work frequent evenings and weekends as needed. Financial Aid Support Coordinator

DESCRIPTION:

Tusculum College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Financial Aid Support Coordinator. This position is responsible for all financial aid administrative tasks including, but not limited to, analyzing eligibility, awarding, file verification preparation, document tracking, ISIR review, file organization and auditing, and all other non-counseling financial aid tasks. The Support Coordinator will compile data for and assist with various federal and state reconciliation and/or certification efforts, processing of origination and disbursement records, daily imports and exports, as well as troubleshooting to provide resolution to rejected records. Works in a proactive manner and utilizes problem-solving skills to promote accurate and timely processing of aid while maintaining mandatory compliance with internal policies, as well as, state and federal guidelines and laws. Provides the necessary counseling support to students and their families on how to cover the costs for a Tusculum College education, including all sources of assistance and the delivery system for financial aid. This is a full time position supportive of enrollment growth for traditional aged and adult students on the Greeneville campus, and three approved off-site locations in Kingsport, Knoxville, and Morristown.  This position requires attention to detail, mathematical aptitude, and strong coordination and communication with various offices including the Business Office, Registrar, and Athletics. Applicants must have a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service, be a team player and the ability and willingness to travel to each of the off-sites for student outreach events. Some evening and weekend work will be required as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor Degree is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of education, experience or training in financial aid or higher education can be substituted for the bachelor’s degree. Applicants must possess effective interpersonal, oral, listening, and written communication skills; an outgoing personality; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; a flexible attitude; professionalism, customer service skills, a willingness to travel, work evenings and weekends as needed. This comprehensive position requires experience coordinating multiple projects, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills to be successful. Extensive knowledge of databases, Microsoft Office, and analytical and problem solving skills are also required.

Graduate & Professional Studies Adjunct Faculty

The Graduate and Professional Studies program of Tusculum College seeks qualified adjunct faculty for the following teaching positions listed below.  GPS offers non-traditional, accelerated, adult-oriented classes. Most classes meet once a week for six weeks and are offered in the evening or on the weekends in upper East Tennessee.  Prior experience with adult students is preferred as well as experience teaching web-enhanced courses using an on-line course delivery system. 

Master of Arts in Education Programs –  Early Childhood Education – Terminal degree and emphasis in early childhood education.  Additional qualifications of special education and teaching of young children with special needs is preferred.

Master of Arts in Education Programs - Organizational Training and Education and Human Resource Development Concentrations – Terminal degree with demonstrated professional accomplishments in the instructional systems design (ISD) functions are required.  Teach six week courses in Analysis of Instructional Needs and Performance Gap Analysis, Instructional Design, Evaluation of Adult Learning, Instructional Materials and Media.  

Master of Arts in Education Programs –  Curriculum & Instruction and MAT – Terminal degree and at least 18 graduate hours in Education, Special Education, Reading, English, Science, Math or Art and experience in an Elementary or Secondary Education classroom.
